Broadcaster Kirsty Young has unveiled a new information panel next to the statue of Hogarth on Chiswick High Road. The Five news presenter and sometime host of 'Have I Got News for You' carried out the ceremony on Friday 10th November on what would have been Hogarth's 309th birthday.

She was representing High Road House which has funded the cost of designing and producing the elegant panel. Her husband Nick Jones is the owner of the Soho House group.

Since the unveiling of the statue of William Hogarth in Chiswick High Road in October 2001 members of the William Hogarth Trust have commemorated the artist’s birthday by placing flowers there each year. This time they provided the flowers once again – and sang Happy Birthday to the great artist! In addition, they provided an elegant information panel on the railings nearby, to help out all those people who gaze admiringly at the statue but wonder exactly who was Hogarth. The panel outlines Hogarth's connection with Chiswick and gives some insight into his life and times.

High Road House agreed to sponsor the panel, as a symbol of their desire to be part of the Chiswick community, when they took over the former Fouberts restaurant and hotel which opened in July 2006. High Road House is just across the road from the statue.
