William Hogarth Statue Attacked Yet again

Hogarth empty handed

The William Hogarth Statue has suffered more than its fair share of vandalism in its short term of residence. Sadly, there has been a fourth attack in which another brush, this time from his left hand, has been stolen with an estimated replacement cost of £800.

However, thanks to Barclay’s CCTV camera, the senseless louts responsible for this vandalism could be caught. Chiswick Police are interested in footage filmed in the five days preceeding January 27th.

Hugh Brendon of The William Hogarth Trust informed us that the matter is with the Council who in turn will be contacting the insurers.

In spite of these latest events, this week did see the replacement of William Hogarth’s Brush in his right hand – we all hope it will remain here where it belongs.

If anyone has any information that could help please contact Chiswick Police or Hugh Brendon at The William Hogarth Trust on 020 8995 9013.
