Ever walked along the river and wondered what it must be like to live in one of the houseboats and wanted to find out more about them?

History, Heritage and Houseboats a talk by Dr Scott Pereira hosted by the Chiswick Pier Trust and The Thames Society on Tuesday, January 19th at 7.30pm, will discuss the issue.

Scott will be exploring the tradition of living on boats and why vintage working craft have been chosen as homes.
Come along and find out how living on them has preserved them, and how heritage boats can enhance modern environments, particularly tourist areas and capital cities and indeed our very own Chiswick Pier.

You’ll discover why we should be pressing planners and developers for more encouragement of heritage boats for residential sites. And why we should encourage people who want to live afloat to choose heritage boats to preserve.

And finally, they hope to have a lively discussion on the London scene and how to make it better.

Doors open at 7pm and the talk will start at 7.30 pm. Tickets are £3, or free to members of the Chiswick Pier Trust and The Thames Society. Refreshments will be available.
