The West London Palestine Solidarity Campaign is presenting a talk entitled 'Keys to the Future - Jerusalem & Palestinian refugee rights' by former diplomat Robin Kealy.

Robin Kealy has had a long and distinguished diplomatic career in the Foreign Office with postings in Libya, Kuwait and Iraq where he was No 2 at the embassy during the first Gulf War. From 1979-2001 he was British Consul-General in East Jerusalem and responsible for British relations with the Palestinian Authority.

His final posting until last year was as our ambassador to Tunisia. At present he is in the middle of a donor-funded review of the work of UNRWA (UN Relief & Works Agency) throughout the Palestinian refugee camps in the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan.

He will be talking about his time in Jerusalem, British relations with the Palestinian Authority & Israel and the role of the Palestinian refugees in the peace process. Retaining control of East Jerusalem and the principle of the Right of Return for refugees as enshrined in the 1948 UN resolution 194, have both remained for Palestinians crucial to any 'final status' agreement with Israel and there is no doubt that Robin Kealy has a wealth of experience to draw on when discussing these matters.
