Dear W4 Residents,

It's been a real pleasure to meet some of you recently at my drop in surgeries at Chiswick Post Office, Chiswick Medical Centre and at Sainsbury's, Essex Place. I handed out quite a few flyers on car security. This time of the year laptops, mobile phones and even cash is left on display and the result is expensive insurance premiums and repair costs to replace windows. Please tell any visitors/guests to store such valuables away from prying eyes.

Riding pedal cycles on the pavement is another irritation and danger to pedestrians. I stopped a cyclist in the High Road last week and a member of the public who pointed it out to me was then subjected to abuse herself ! I am sure our Safer Transport team will return to this issue soon and offenders may well receive a fixed penalty notice which will deplete their Christmas funds.

There is still time to hand in presents or donations towards our Christmas Tree Appeal which will give children and young people under Hounslow Borough Council care a better Christmas. You can hand them in at Chiswick Police station between 9 to 5pm Monday to Friday. Station Office is closed weekends. The final date for receipt will be this Friday.

I wish you all a peaceful and safe Christmas.

Sergeant Dave Turtle
