Southfield Lib Dem councillors will hold the next meeting of the forum at 7.30pm at the Acton Green Church Hall, Cunningham Street on 24th July.

Councillor Andrew Steed says: "Please come along so you can ask questions of your three local councillors. We are hoping that the local police team will be present."

The latest issue of the Southfield newsletter has information on issues ranging from recycling, to eligibility for free childcare places and cycling initiatives.

Beardsley Way recycling success

Councillor Gary Malcolm says"If you currently do not have access to a recycling service, especially in blocks of flats, please let us know. Liberal Democrats have a good track record of pursuading the Council to improve recycling facilities in a number of locations such as Sydney House."

Parents urged to check if they are eligible for free childcare
Hundreds of free nursery and childcare places for two year olds are available in the borough. Eligible families could benefit from 15 hours a week at no cost.

Ealing Labour party give themselves an extra £65,000 of tax payers' cash

The Liberal Democrats spoke against the proposal.

Get involved in local cycling initiatives
Some of the initiatives include:
• Dr Bike health check sessions - where you can get your bike repaired and learn how to do it yourself!
• Cycle Training - can be booked, for just £5 (free for concessions)
Ticket to Ride event - takes place on Sunday 29th June. It’s a fun 11 mile loop around Ealing with a start point at Gunnersbury Park by the museum. It is aimed at non-confident cyclists to encourage them to get out on their bikes, so it will go at a sedate pace and there will be plenty of stops for refreshments, however faster cyclists do not need to stay with the group and can do the loop at their own pace if they’d like to!

Councillor Gary Malcolm said: "Many of these initiatives are beneficial for those who have never cycled and would like to learn, through to those who cycle regularly but have never known how to quickly fix problems. I have done the training course and it was amazing. I cycle a lot now - and know how to cycle safely!"
