Sports in Chiswick

Esporta’s prestigious Riverside Health and Racquets Club in Chiswick officially re-opened on Sunday 18 May. Members of the club enjoyed a fun-packed day, with entertainers as well as face painting, bouncy castles and inflatable toys in the swimming pool. Some of the other treats on offer included Scuba taster sessions, Cardio Tennis fitness, junior tennis coaching sessions, Pilates and Spinning fitness sessions, and the impressive new Tranquillity spa offering complimentary hand massages.

Commenting on the reopening of The Riverside Club, Esporta’s Chief Executive Officer, Glenn Timms said, “We are delighted with this superb new club. Throughout its 20 year history, The Riverside Club has been known for its exceptional offering, and we look forward to welcoming both existing and new members to this outstanding facility. It is particularly pleasing to know that so many young people will benefit from the Club in terms of fitness, swimming, tennis and other activities.”

The Riverside retains its position as one of the largest private tennis clubs in the country. In addition to the 12 cushioned acrylic indoor tennis courts, the club has 14 outdoor courts, three of which are housed in a new all-weather winter bubble. This provides ample space for its popular and highly successful tennis academy which has more than 450 children participating in its junior programme.

Recognised for its commitment and investment in tennis, The Riverside was the first commercial facility in the UK to be awarded High Performance status by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA). Since then it has gone from strength to strength. In addition to developing a number of Britain’s most talented youngsters, the club is also home to some of Britain’s most successful professional players.

Those who have stuck with the Riverside’s swimming programme will be delighted to know that they can now swap Chiswick New Pool for the Riverside’s new 25m outdoor heated pool with an integrated 8m children’s pool. The indoor lane pool has been extended to 25m x 10m, together with a leisure pool and under 4’s paddling pool.

The 10,000 sq ft fitness area located on the second floor of the club has superb views over the tennis courts. With its innovative zoned layout and extensive range of new equipment from Life Fitness® and other leading brands including PowerPlate®, Nautilus TreadClimbers®, Reformer Pilates and Keiser® group cycling studios, the fitness arena is set to become a significant feature of the new club.

However, the biggest step forward for the club in terms of design and layout is the stunning new Tranquillity Spa, which will also operate as an independent day spa available to non-members. Features include seven treatments rooms, all with walk-in showers, indoor and outdoor relaxation areas, three dedicated manicure and pedicure stations, a spray tan room and a luxurious new hydrotherapy pool measuring 10m x 8m.

The Sports Therapy unit, with five treatment rooms and its own reception area, will offer a wide array of alternative treatments is also available to both members and non-members.

As before, the club offers an extensive range of activities for its younger members, including after-school clubs ranging from karate to ballet. The new children’s area will be run by Esporta’s specialist team in a dedicated area of the club with its own reception area and entrance.
