Keen to get up and running, Malcolm John opened Le Vacherin on a tight budget after giving the premises a quick once over with a paint brush.

Now three years and countless rave reviews later, he decided that a make over is in order and called in the services of Design LSM – the same company commissioned by Michelin star brothers Chris and Jeff Galvin to design Baker Street’s ‘bistrots modernes’ Galvin.

Le Vacherin will be closed from 5th to 19th August for the refurbishment which will include a kitchen upgrade, new sash windows to the front, a new granite bar and a deep mahogany floor.

“It’s not going to be overly designed,” says Malcolm “It will still keep its character and remain true to its bistro roots. But it’s time to inject some fresh energy into the place. I need to keep up with the competition in the growing market place – hence the branding Le Vacherin Malcolm John.”

The restaurant covers will remain at 80 and whilst the menus will see little change, the Roast Chicken for Two will make a welcome return.

Roll on the end of the August!
