Prices move up from levels seen in first quarter

The latest official figures for the local property market suggest that prices have moved up from levels seen in the first three months of the year.
The average sale price during the month of April was £668,330 although only 37 properties changed hands during the month.
Of these six sold for over £1 million with the most expensive selling for £2,175,000 on Hartington Road.
The April data from Land Registry's flagship House Price Index shows an annual price decrease of 1% which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £160,417.
London remains the best performing area in the country with prices rising by 5.1% to £360,721 over the same period.
The most up-to-date figures available show that, the number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million in February 2012 decreased by 3 per cent to 462 from 478 in February 2011.
