Rosemary Manipon has worked at St. Mary's for half a century
April 15, 2026 St Mary’s Convent and Nursing Home in Chiswick celebrated a rare staff milestone on Tuesday 14 April, when Rosemary Manipon marked half a century of service. The anniversary was marked with a party for current and former staff and members of Rosemary’s family; her husband, Crisanto, who is Head Chef at the home, and other relatives have worked at St Mary’s over the years. Staff and managers say the home’s “family feel” helps explain the long tenures: several employees are part of extended families who have worked at St Mary’s for decades, and the home expects a run of 20-, 30- and 40-year anniversaries among its team in the months ahead. The celebration for Rosemary included colleagues from across the care team and relatives who travelled to join the event. St Mary’s is located on Burlington Lane, Chiswick (W4 2QE) and provides nursing and residential care for older people. The home has capacity for around 60 residents, with a mix of single rooms and en suite facilities, and offers services including palliative and end-of-life care, support for people with Parkinson’s and stroke, and short-term convalescent stays. The Care Quality Commission most recently rated St Mary’s Good overall, awarding an Outstanding rating in the Responsive category — a recognition inspectors reserve for services that adapt well to people’s needs and deliver personalised care. Staff say the rating reflects the home’s emphasis on relationship-based care and its efforts to respond quickly to residents’ changing needs. St Mary’s describes itself as an extended Christian family and retains links with the convent community; the home combines clinical nursing with social and spiritual activities, and residents are encouraged to personalise rooms and take part in gardening and other pastimes.
