The A4 Great West Road was shut today following a serious accident near the junction with Sutton Court Road.

Reportedly a motorcyclist was in collision with a recycling lorry.

An air ambulance landed on Turnham Green to bring the injured person to hospital.

The A4 is shut westbound between the Hogarth Roundabout and the M4 compounding existing traffic problems caused by the closure of the flyover.

Westbound traffic is being diverted down the southbound A316 towards Chiswick Bridge. There are delays back to Hammersmith and Earls Court on the A4.

Eastbound is experiencing slow traffic from M4 Junction 1 (Chiswick Roundabout).

Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
