Telling Police Leadership About Charing Cross Station Concerns |

Report back from Andy Slaughter, MP for Hammersmith and Chiswick
October 3, 2025 This week I met senior police officers to express concerns about the proposed closure of the front counter at Hammersmith Police Station and to talk about the appalling conduct of officers at Charing Cross exposed in the recent Panorama report. Charing Cross will be the only 24/7 front counter in the West Area if Hammersmith closes but given the concerns raised about Charing Cross, we need to know that Hammersmith custody suite is being properly managed. When I met with officers, I also sought assurances following the terrible attacks on a synagogue in Manchester to confirm that all potential targets for extremist attacks are receiving added security and protection. I recently attended The Upper Room quiz at Latymer Upper School which raised thousands for a brilliant local charity of which I am a Patron. The Upper Room provides help and advice for homeless and vulnerable people in West London. This week I was delighted to attend the Black Chiswick through History event at Chiswick House and Garden. This is the 5th year the event has been running with the purpose of researching and celebrating black people’s history in Chiswick and to learn more about the people who lived and worked at Chiswick House. The talks were interesting and engaging and I was grateful to be invited. Last week I attended the Mayor of Hounslow’s inaugural dinner to raise money for her charities. Mayor Amy Croft is a Chiswick councillor, and her charities include the Hogarth Youth and Community Centre – an organisation I have visited myself and know do great work in our local community. It was a fantastic dinner made even better by raising money for deserving causes. Finally, I was pleased to visit clean energy provider So Energy who are based in Chiswick but are a growing national business. It was wonderful to meet staff working in Chiswick and hear about their enthusiasm for providing renewable clean energy. Best wishes, Andy andy@andyslaughter.com
