Local beauty and BBC Breakfast News Presenter Natasha Kaplinsky has confirmed that the rumours of her engagement to investment banker Justin Bower are true.

Kaplinsky's confirmation puts paid to show biz gossip that she is still taken with her ex dance partner with whom she won the first series of Strictly Come Dancing.

She told The Telegraph "We became engaged last week. I am very, very happy. All I can say about the ring is that it is beautiful."

Kaplinsky, who is in her early thirties, won the Best Newscaster title at the Television and Radio Industries Club Awards.

She began her career at the BBC in the typing pool until the late Jill Dando introduced her to an agent.  She has also worked with Sacha Baron Cohen (aka Ali G) and on the London Today and London Tonight Programmes.
