Mahad Abdalla accused of attacks on a woman while he was off-duty
A Metropolitan Police officer, who once featured in a BBC documentary, has been charged with a series of serious sexual offences. PC Mahad Abdalla, 28, from Chiswick, is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Friday 19 February. The serving officer, who featured in The Met: Policing London which was broadcast in 2019, has been charged with rape, engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour, two counts of intentional strangulation, assault by penetration and sexual assault. The charges relate to off-duty incidents involving a woman known to him. Abdalla was filmed by a BBC camera crew while working as a response officer in Ealing, where he and a colleague were shown dealing with a drunk driver at 7am and responding to two reported assaults on police officers. He became a full-time officer in 2017 after previously working in retail while serving as a Special Constable. He later transferred to the Territorial Support Group in the North West Basic Command Unit, covering Brent and Harrow He was arrested on 14 May 2024 and bailed pending further enquiries before being charged last month. He has been suspended from duty since his arrest. The investigation is being led by the North West Public Protection Unit, and the victim is being supported by specialist officers. The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed.
