ROYAL GARDEN PARTY INVITES FOR UNSUNG LOCAL HEROES

Council looking for nominations of people who have served the community over the last 50 years

Hounslow Council is looking for ten people from the Borough, who have made a lasting contribution to the borough over the past 50 years. The ten will be able to attend the event at Gunnersbury Park, a 'Picnic in the Park' , on June 25 2002, and mingle in the company of The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

The four boroughs of West London - Hounslow, Hillingdon, Hammersmith and Fulham and Ealing - are to honour The Queen at a picnic in Gunnersbury for 600 guests chosen from the four boroughs. The aim of the visit is to provide an opportunity for The Queen and Prince Philip to meet the people of West London.

Local residents will get the chance to see The Queen as she arrives for the celebrations.

Council Leader John Chatt said, "This promises to be a once in a lifetime event. We will be inviting community leaders, charity workers and people from various communities. Now we want nominations for the unsung heroes of Hounslow. People who have been good neighbours, who area always there to help or who have worked behind the scenes for schools and charities. This is our chance to say a big thank you to them."

Tom Carney, Corporate Communications Officer for Hounslow, said, "There will be a stage with acts that not only represent the cultural mix in this part of London but also look back on the music and dance of the Queen's reign."

To nominate someone, send an email to sandra.horniman@hounslow.gov.uk or write to Sandra Horniman, Public Relations, Civic Centre, Lampton Road, Hounslow TW3 4DN, marking the envelope 'Jubilee'
