A man has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a woman in Netheravon Road South. The man is believed to be from East London.

The attack took place in the early hours of last Monday. (September 8) The woman required hospitalisation after the attack and was interviewed by detectives from a specialist unit.

The attack took place a short distance from the subway between Netheravon Road and Netheravon Road South, close to an area where locals have complained about the lack of CCTV.

Last May we reported here that it had been agreed CCTV would be installed in three underpasses in Chiswick following agreement on funding. It is understood this was delayed due to the departure of the project manager involved.

There have been incidents of crime in the area, ranging from muggings to thefts from vehicles.

Councillor John Todd said that S106 funds had been allocated for CCTV installation on the site. He commented on the chiswickw4.com forum:
"TfL the owners have now agreed to the scheme which I have been informed may have been delayed because of a staff member leaving. I have sought confirmation.

"This new scheme will be wireless based transmitting live to LBH CCTV Centre and can be monitored by Hounslow Police as and when required. This is an improvement on other subway systems."
