Police have confirmed that they are investigating a report of a sexual offence in Turnham Green, Chiswick. It is not believed to be linked to the assaults on women in Chiswick last year.

The incident, which involved a male and a female who had been seen together in the area, took place around 8.15 a.m. last Friday.

It is believed that members of the public raised the alarm. The London Ambulance attended the scene.

The investigation is said to be "ongoing".

The area was taped off as a crime scene and the cordon was removed in time for the Super Saturday Of Sport to go ahead as normal.

The police said today: "There were reports of an alleged sexual offence on Turnham Green at about 0815 hours on Friday morning. The crime scene was closed on Friday evening but this investigation is still ongoing. We are not currently not linking this incident to the previous assaults that happened in Chiswick at the end of 2014 "

A number of readers have posted on the chiswickW4 forum about seeing a woman lying on the ground.

One said; "There was an ambulance, an NHS quick response estate car and two police cars there this morning at about 0845. The ambulance crew appeared to be treating somebody on the ground."
