The long overdue reopening of Duke Road will take place this week according to Hounslow Highways. They say that delays were caused by the need for Thames Water to repair water leaks which were discovered during the works.

Resurfacing work which was scheduled to take a fortnight has now been going on for over a month causing prolonged disruption to local residents. The work involved a deep excavation and reconstruction of the road foundation and surface.

A spokesperson for Hounslow Highways said, 'The resurfacing has been delayed due to the presence of unexpected ground conditions which has required Thames Water to attend site on several occasions to repair water leaks. These have all now been rectified and a final assessment by the engineers do not anticipate any further delays. The resurfacing and lining is expected to be completed by 7pm today (11 August).'
