Sports in Chiswick

Chiswick and Latymer beat local rivals Turnham Green by two wickets to progress to the semi-finals of the Middlesex Vase competition last Sunday.

Bowling first on a scorching hot day Chiswick did well to restrict Turnham Green to 201-8 off their 45 overs, Kulli Bhatia taking 4-23. In reply Chiswick opener Wes Van den Berg made 43, Sunni Singh top-scored with 48 before Jason Stocks and Bhatia saw Chiswick home with 5 balls to spare.

Meanwhile, the Chiswick and Latymer Saturday 1st XI lost to Aldershot, despite a fine 83 from Sunni Singh. Andy Taylor saw Aldershot home to a five wicket victory with an unbeaten century. The 2nd XI drew in a high scoring game at Whitton Park, Bruce Frederick top scorer with 128.

The Saturday 3rd XI were well beaten by High Wycombe at Chiswick House, losing by nine wickets. The 4th XI continued their unbeaten start to the season – Ifty Ali (77*) and Toby Clarke (5-41) starring in a 5 wicket win over Aldershot 3rd XI. The 5th XI also had a good win, beating Farnham Common by 96 runs, thanks to fifties to Phil Smith and John Carr.

Division 4A: Reading 3rd XI 326-6 (A Bull 110, Simon Daldry 3-17) Chiswick and Latymer 2nd XI 311-8 (Bruce Frederick 128). Match Drawn

Division 4B: Chiswick and Latymer 3rd XI 89 (A Bhatia 31), High Wycombe 3rd XI 90-1 (J Stone 48*) High Wycombe win by 9 wickets

Division 7A: Aldershot 3rd XI 201 (T Clarke 5-41), Chiswick and Latymer 4th XI 205-5 (Ifty Ali 77*) Chiswick win by 5 wickets
