Traffic including 94 bus on diversion due to gas major gas main repair
April 4, 2026 The closure of Stamford Brook Road looks set to continue for a week after the Easter Holidays with Cadent currently predicting that it will reopen on Sunday 12 April. The latest phase of the works began on Saturday 28 March and is scheduled to run until Sunday 12 April. The closure affects Stamford Brook Road between its junctions with Emlyn Road and Prebend Gardens to the east and Goldhawk Road to the west, meaning through traffic cannot use this stretch of road for the duration of the works. Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and allow extra time for their journeys. It is understood that the pipe running beneath Stamford Brook Road has reached the end of its operational life and must be replaced to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to local properties. Bus route 94 is on diversion in both directions from 08:00 on Saturday 28 March until 19:00 on Sunday 12 April due to the gas main replacement works. Bus route 272 is unaffected. During the diversion period, buses are travelling via Goldhawk Road, Chiswick High Road, and Turnham Green Terrace. As a result, several stops are not being served in either direction: Flanchford Road stops 'SA' and 'SK', Abinger Road, and Turnham Green Station stops 'LL' and 'MM'. Passengers who normally board or alight at these stops will need to make their way to the nearest stops on the diversion route for the duration of the closure. Anyone who smells gas — whether or not they believe it is connected to these works — should call the National Gas Emergency Service immediately on 0800 111 999.
