Results being announced across the country
Queues were reported in polling stations in the area so there are increased hopes of a much improved turnout compared with general elections in recent years.
Results in local constituencies for the general election will be continue to be declared through the morning. The first one in London was Tooting which was held by Labour. Putney and Battersea were won by the Conservatives. The results from most other seats likely to be announced between 6am and 7am. We have people at all the counts and will publish the results as soon as possible after they are announced. Local election counts are due to take place today(Friday) with the results expected to be declared in the afternoon.
