Old Meadonians

Following their ignominious exit from football's Middlesex Senior Cup two weeks ago, Old Meadonians spent the intervening washed out Saturday in an intensive four hour training and debriefing session designed to eliminate self destructive elements.

Hapless Broomfield from the top drawer of the Southern Amateur League were the unlucky reapers of the whirlwind in a second half five goal spree which took the visitors to the semi-finals of the A.F.A. Senior Cup for the second time in three seasons.

True Meads did allow thee hosts to come back from two down as early goals from strikers Colin Hawkins and Ed Glover were cancelled out just before halftime. The second half saw the visitors taking full advantage of the hospitality on offer as they scored almost at will.

Hawkins added his second on 55 minutes and almost immediately Kevin Quinn weighed in with a twenty-yard free kick. It became a procession as Glover lobbed the keeper from the edge of the area midfielder Dwayne Rhone scored from a narrow angle and skipper Jack Costello rounded things off with a rare header.
